Goodbye My Opportunity

In the fall of 2016 I was shown a new marketing site called My Opportunity. At first, it was free. I was drawn to it because it was very similar to another network marking site that a lot of my voice actor friend’s use called Nible.
In December of 2016 My Opportunity was going to start charging $20 a month for their service but…if I bought into the Christmas Special and acted before the end of the year (2016) it would only be $10 a month – for life! Only $10 a month? Sigh me up!
So…as of January of 2017 My Opportunity was now $20 a month but I got my price locked in to only $10 a month.
Fast forward to September of 2018.
I’m still only paying $10 a month but I don’t use this service as much as I thought I was going to. I’ve only jumped on the site once or twice a month. You see, to get a better marketing match out of the site they suggested I link my LinkedIn contacts with My Opportunity. So I merged my LinkedIn members to their site and therein lay the problem.
The good thing is I’m connected to a lot of people on LinkedIn. (500+) However, the bad thing is I’d say about 90% of them are OTHER voice actors. So the people I’m connecting with on My Opportunity are the same friends / voice actors I’m already connected with on LinkedIn.
No matter if I got a great deal at $10 a month or not the $10 is wasted if I can’t make any new contacts with new people.
So as of this week I am letting my membership at My Opportunity expire.
You can still find me on LinkedIn and of course, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and sometimes Tumblr.
